The Adventures of the Test Bench Shelf Upgrade

Hey, everyone.
Space was running low on the shelf where the test bench is located. More stuff was being added. Time to upgrade and get a bigger shelf. Fortunately one was on sale at a local hardware store for a decent price. Our dog, Rey, is going to accompany me during the process.

Changing the Screen Protector on a Nexus 5X

Hey, everyone.

I dropped my phone after taking a shower. It was being picked up from the shelf above the toilet. It slipped, it bounced off the edge of the counter, top of the toilet seat and landed on the ground. Fortunately it was the screen protector that cracked. The phone is fine.

Using the second screen protector included in this double pack of screen protectors my dad gave me when we first got our Nexus 5X last year. The first wet towelette was dry due to not being used in a year. Used rubbing alcohol to clean the surface of the phone. Wipe off any fibers and dust using a coffee filter. Laid the screen protector on one side after lining it up. Let it automatically attached itself down the length of the phone. Used the filter again to ensure no air was caught in between the screen protector and the phone screen.

The case also cracked on the corner and had to order a new one.

For Honor Benchmarks on Budget & Mid-Range Hardware

For Honor is out and here are the benchmarks on lower to mid-end hardware. Not all of us have the latest CPU and GPU and many of you may be wondering if this game can run on your system. Well, here's the benchmark tool using four different CPUI's and five different GPU's. Visually the game looks great and runs decent on the High Preset. There is a message in-game where it states if your frame rates drop below 30 FPS while on an online match you will be disconnected. Please keep that in mind. Enjoy the videos!

CCTV Lenses on a Micro Four Thirds Camera

Started a new set of videos showing how CCTV lenses work on a micro four thirds camera body. In this case a Panasonic Lumix G85. These lenses have caught my interest since they're extremely small and fairly inexpensive. They're full manual lenses which makes it nice for video. Here's part one of three where we start off with the 25mm lens. Enjoy!

Transferring DOOM to the test bench

Going to work on testing DOOM with the few CPU's and the GPU's to see how it performs with each one. Will try to get that video uploaded over the weekend.

UPDATE: Well, it turns out my PC doesn't get along with my USB 3.0 flash drive. Seems to overheat and un-mount afterwards when attempting to transfer tons of data at the same time. Even tried doing it in chunks but it will still sometimes disconnect. I guess it's time to transfer the files over via ethernet through the switch. I should really swap the Cat5 cable to the Cat5E which has been sitting on my shelf for over a month. Only have 100Mbps running on the cable which goes to the test bench.
